Marshawn Lynch on the Mayne Event

Last week, we posted the transcript of Willis McGahee’s thoughts on his time spent in Buffalo. Over the weekend, Kenny Mayne got Marshawn Lynch in on the action for his ESPN segment, the Mayne Event.

I had to suffer through getting links of Marshawn Lynch stories and videos from my Cal boy Tommy O for quite some time during his time spent on the Golden Bears, but this video is actually really funny.

All kidding aside, you do have to feel for McGahee. I mean, you’ve been working all your life to make it to the top level to reap the benefits that come with it, and once you get there, they ship you off to Buffalo? Buffalo doesn’t even want to be in Buffalo, so imagine how these young players are feeling. Is it too much to ask for the NFL to only be played in cities with at least three gentlemen’s clubs these days? Where’s a guy gonna get a good steak without the likes of Tootsies, Booby Trap, the Spearmint Rhino, Cheetas, Solid Gold, the Dollhouse, Nancy’s, etc.? No respect.

Anyways, here’s the clip:

Recap of Night 1 in the NBA

hangtime.jpg

Is the NBA attempting to break the Western Conference away from the East? I understand that for the most part, the West has dominated the past decade of basketball, but the powers are shifting, baby! KG has moved over, methinks Kobe is on his way too, the Bulls are continuing to get stronger, two of the NBA’s biggest superstars are in the East (LeBron and Wade), and the list goes on.

So then, on opening night of the NBA season, why didn’t the East get a game? Why did the NBA even start the season last night, for that matter? Were any of these games even on TV? ESPN shows games on Wednesdays and Fridays, why not wait til tonight, Halloween, as they did last year?

Anyways, the games last night went as planned. In the only exciting matchup of the night, Shane Battier nailed a three with two seconds left to lead his Rockets to victory over the Lakers. Kobe dropped 45 points.

The Spurs got their rings and took care of Portland, 106-97.

Utah smoked the Warriors, in Golden State, 117-96.

There are a couple great matchups on the board tonight, including Chicago at New Jersey and Dallas at Cleveland. I’ve got my eyes set on Dallas-Cleveland. For the gambling-folk out there, Dallas is only favored by 4 points. Expect a sloppy performance by the Cavs. Cleveland fans will have long memories tonight, and finally have the opportunity to take their agression out on LeBron for his NY hat incident at the Indians-Yankees game a few weeks ago. Bet the house!

Ortiz Looks like Shrek

ortiz-shrek.jpg

It truly is remarkable how much David Ortiz looks like the green ogre.

If I were him, I would demand royalties, because they clearly used Ortiz as the model for designing the beast…

A Pitbull Kills Michael Vick

I haven’t seen an NFL player take this much of a beating since Ray Finkle back in 1983. This video has been sent to me three times over the past two weeks, so to end the rigorous email campaign, I’ll post it.

My girlfriend writes the incredible gossip blog over at Dirt.LA. She actually wrote a sports related article today on David Beckham’s last game of the season (well, so long as you consider soccer a sport), so go ahead and check it out. That way, I don’t have to shamefully post about Beckham and his apparent three-foot long weiner as depicted above.

Sike!

The Los Angeles Clippers’ season begins Friday night, when they play host to the Golden State Warriors. Since the season ticket sales have slumped a bit in the offseason, ownership is attempting a new type of promotion: GIVING TICKETS AWAY AND BEGGING PEOPLE TO COME TO THE GAMES!

In all seriousness, the organization is offering fans 50% off face value for the tickets to the opening game. Relative to the last couple seasons, this isn’t all that much of a break, considering they raised prices immensely last season.

My guess is that this season the Clip-Show will be more like the Clip—ummm, something that cleverly rhymes with ‘Show’ and is rampant with negative connotations.

Thanks: FanHouse.
