I have become so sick of the Romo, TO, Simpson triangle like you wouldn’t believe. But finally, someone has come up with something blog-worthy about the ordeal. RuinRomo.com is allowing users to download a life-sized cutout of Jessican Simpson’s face so users can wear them to upcoming games and psyche Romo out. Obviously, this won’t have any sort of effect on Romo’s performance, but it would be pretty sweet to see half of Carolina’s stadium this weekend decked out as Jessica Simpson.
Two old men are thinking about strapping up their shows and getting back onto the court.
Chris Webber is very close to coming back to Detroit, and Gary Payton has made clear his intentions to play with his ex-boys on the Celtics.
Normally, I would make tons of jokes about these situations, but I actually think the respective teams should seriously consider these signings. Chris Webber is a good player. He’s not going to win games by himself, and may not be deserving of all the money he made in the NBA, but he’s a solid player and would fit a perfect roll in Detroit right now. At this point, Detroit is no longer the big power in the East, so their cockiness won’t get to them as much as it has in the past. I like their chances of going into Boston in the Eastern Conference finals and absolutely owning them. And I see no reason why C-Webb wouldn’t help that cause.
Gary Payton is old and hasn’t done all that much in the past few seasons, but the Celtics are going to need some help in the post season. GP is the kind of guy who will hit a jumper with 5 seconds left and you’re down by one or two points, with no one expecting it. He had a couple huge baskets in Game 3 of the NBA Finals for the Heat against Dallas. He isn’t going to be a stud for Boston, but if the Celtics can get him for minimum veteran salary, I think they have to try it out. Either way, it’s not going to hurt.
We’re going to have some sick conference finals this year.
I hate when people see depictions like this and say "see, the Big 10 has real sports fans." No, the Big 10 is in the Midwest, which has nothing to offer other than football. This is just creepy.
I’d really like to know all the details from this picture. My guess is that it’s in Michigan, since the goalposts in the cul-de-sac have Michigan cushions on them. Then, dirtbag # 4 on the block thought he would outdo everyone else by sticking a blowup fullback in his front yard.
Imagine what people from all over the world would think if they saw this image.
For the first time I’ve ever seen, a team will probably win a protest as the Heat will probably need to play against Atlanta since Wednesday night’s game will probably be abolished. With 51 seconds left in the game against the Hawks, Shaq was whistled for his fifth foul, but the scoring crew had it as his sixth. Apparently, there was a disputed foul with 3:24 left in the fourth in which Udonis hacked a Hawk, and even though the ref called Udonis for the foul, the scorers gave it to Shaq. Video evidence after the game showed that Udonis was clearly the fouler. Miami ended up tying to game and sending it to OT, after which they lost by six points.
By league rules, you must file a protest within 48 hours of the dispute, as well as pay $10,000 that is nonrefundable if you lose the challenge.
What is still unknown is how the Heat are so bad that they have lost to Atlanta twice in this still young season?
I’m going to say it’s safe to assume that Tim Donaghy was somehow affiliated with this ordeal.
Do you think anyone thought having 100+ Santas on the ice during a hockey game was a bad idea? Just when you thought this fight couldn’t get any better, midget Santa comes out swinging. Brilliant!
Blah, blah, blah, Bill Parcells is the new Executive VP of the Miami Dolphins. Sorry I’ve been so late to get to this story, but I’m on vacation, and don’t find myself around a computer all too often. As a Dolphins’ fan, my first reaction to this was a bad one; just another attempt at the Dolphins trying to hit a homerun by getting a big name guy. But then I started thinking more about this, errr, forcing myself to like the decision, and come up with some reasons why this is a great decision.
1. Parcells was a great coach in the ’80s and early ’90s, but since then, he’s been a consistently average coach. My beef with Parcells is that although he’s always been a great coach and all around football guy, he hasn’t adapted to the personalities of new age professional athletes, and hasn’t been able to relate with anyone in the least bit. I’ve always said about the guy, if he could run the team without any personal bonds with players, he could work out.
2. Parcells knows how to build a team. The only question is whether or not the ‘Phins organization is going to give him the time necessary to do it. If Parcells wants to be, he can be patient and can rebuild. The only problem is that given his history, he doesn’t stick around long enough to get his team going. This upcoming draft is going to be a forecast of his time spent in Miami. If he can force another team to trade up for the ‘Phins number 1 overall draft pick, he can build a solid unit on both the offensive and defensive lines and this team can be competitive three years from now. If he goes for the sexy pick, McFadden, he might leave halfway through his contract.
It’s not going to be easy getting a foolish team to take the number 1 pick. The NFL is in a terrible cycle of underachieving number 1 draft picks getting paid too much money. Teams are starting to realize this and that so much talent can be found in the later rounds.
Either way, how great is Parcells life going to be? He’s going to get paid shitloads of money, while avoiding the day to day headaches that come with the head coaching position. And, oh yeah, he’s going to live on the beach and probably own a ginormous yacht.
Life doesn’t suck for Bill Parcells.
